13 Pin Electrics

The 13-pin socket has become the new standard for European electrical connections in the caravan and trailer industry, replacing the previous 12n/12s double electrical setup.

This updated 13-pin system provides a more comprehensive and integrated power solution for caravans and trailers. With the 13-pin plug, you can now power all of your road lights, charge your leisure battery, and even operate your fridge while you're on the move. This is a significant upgrade from the older 12n/12s system, which required separate connections for different electrical functions.

The transition to the 13-pin plug has been gradual but widespread, with the majority of caravans manufactured from 2008 onward now featuring this new connector.

Additionally, many new trailers and platform bike racks are also being outfitted with the 13-pin plug, further cementing its status as the new industry standard.

The 13pin socket is often installed, where possible, on a swing bracket so when the detachable neck is removed, which allows for a clever and discreet installation. When the detachable neck is removed, the electrical components can swing up and tuck neatly underneath the vehicle's bumper, creating a clean, unobtrusive appearance that doesn't give away the presence of a tow hitch.

This thoughtful design helps maintain the aesthetic of the vehicle while still providing the necessary electrical connections for your caravan or trailer.
